Soggy Bottom Boys will be hosting the 2017 Summer Solstice Adventure Races on June 17th, 2017 in a completely new venue, never raced in before (Smithfield, VA greater area)! The 2017 Summer Solstice will feature both a 8-hour Std and a 12-hour Advanced courses complete with special skills, road and trail biking, paddle-O, Orienteering, time trial sections and more. This race will feature top finisher Free Entry awards, lots of SWAG raffle prizes, hot homemade post-race food, Ice cold Watermelon, and FREE post-race massages for ALL (What a way to finish a race)!

  • 12Hours (7:30AM – 7:30PM)
  • 8 Hours (11:30AM – 7:30PM)

Cost:

  • 8 Hour Course
    • $80 a person thru April 1st
    • $100 a person April 1st thru May 31st

USARA Registration:

  • As this is a USARA Qualifier race, during packet pickup all team members must be present, all forms must be completed for each team member, and Insurance fees must be paid for USARA membership. USARA forms will be available at Registration for all team members. USARA fees of $8 for a one-day race membership, $35 for yearly membership, or proof of USARA membership are required and can be paid at packet pickup.

 

Boats:

  • There are NO boat restrictions and teams may provide their own watercraft. There will be a Boat Drop on race morning. Kayaks are suggested for the course, but not required. There will be boat Rentals available through the Park System. If you are interested in renting a boat, please contact mark@sbbracing.com and let him know you want to be placed on the Boat Rental List. Park Pricing will apply.

Maps:

  • Maps will consist of Topo Maps (1:24K and 1:10K) as well as Park Maps

Volunteers:

  • Adventure Racing cannot go on w/o a great Volunteer staff. If any racer’s friends or family members are interested in volunteering while you race, please fill out the Volunteer Form and send to mark@sbbracing.com . They can work as little or as much as they would like. You will earn valuable discounts on Race Entry for future SBB Racing races that they can use or gift to anyone they choose.

Lodging:

  • There is a number of hotels available w/in 20-30 min of Race Start as well as a Campground with Cabins or Tent Camping. A list of these will be made available on the SBB website when race Venue is announced in Spring 2017.
