I know how much everyone cares about their abzz, and truth be told, strong abdominals ARE very important for any endurance athlete. They help you stay in a proper, upright position when running and are critical to the rotational component of the oar stroke. It’s with that last movement in mind that I present the Russian Triangle:
Most of you are probably familiar with a Russian Twist, which is just going side to side with a weight to build your ab’s rotational strength. The Russian Triangle throws an additional sit-up into the twist, forcing the body to contend with not only the lateral rotation of the weight, but the diagonal rotation of going from the side of the body to over the head as you descend backwards in the sit-up. Great stuff, enjoy your newly sculpted abzz.
